There is no single guaranteed timeframe. In practice, periods range from several months to longer waits, and an estimate of around six to nine months cannot be promised to every applicant. Timing depends on the office, completeness of the file, checks of travel history, income and civil-status records, and whether further documents are required.
The timeframe should not be counted only from the first contact: booking an appointment, correcting foreign documents, and ensuring that witnesses attend all take place before or around the formal application. After it is accepted, the case may also await internal checks without any ongoing visible progress.
Keep the case number and the official tracking instructions. Respond to requests within the specified deadline, and do not buy non-refundable tickets or plan on receiving a passport based on a verbal promise of a decision date.
