Russian citizens can enter Uruguay without a visa for a short stay of up to 90 days if they meet the current border requirements. This period does not automatically give the right to work, study or permanent residence without a separate procedure.
Visa-free entry can be convenient for arrival and preparing an application if the category permits a change of status within the country. But at the border and when boarding, you may be asked for a passport, return or onward ticket, address, proof of funds, and documents for your planned route.
Track the permitted stay from the date of entry. An appointment alone does not prove an extension of stay. If an application has been started, keep the case number, confirmations, and documents showing your current status.
