Answer
There is no single nationwide price: the fee is set by the department, and the total depends on the driving licence’s validity period and the steps required. Rates may differ in Montevideo and Maldonado, so an old amount should not be carried over between cities or used without a date.
In addition to the municipal fee, budget for a medical examination, consular certificate, translation, and notarized copies if required. Some costs are paid in different places, so the price of the service at the intendencia is not the full cost of the exchange.
Before booking an appointment, check the official tariff for the chosen department and request a list of payments. Make a separate budget for each applicant: a family application does not always result in a single rate, and a driving licence with a shorter validity period may cost differently than one with the maximum validity period.
